Within the scientific activities of the Department of Chemical Engineering, the Chemical Engineering Department discusses a master's dissertation on improving phenol degradation of petroleum refinery wastewater by using ozonation process in bubble column reactor. The MSc. dissertation for the student Adnan Kazem Majhoul included:
The ozonation process was studied through the bubble column reactor using four cases[ (O3 only), (O3 + ZnO Nanocatalyst), (O3 + AL2O3) and (O3+ ZnO Nanocatalyst + AL2O3)] for the purpose of degradation of phenol from the wastewater of petroleum refineries and the study of hydrodynamics, mass transfer (work Mathematical model and reaction kinetics to find out the optimal conditions for the performance of the bubble column reactor, where it became clear that the fourth case is the most consistent between the practical and theoretical results and removes the highest percentage of the phenol pollutant with high concentrations
The discussion committee consisted of Prof. Dr. Amer Aziz Abdul Rahman, chairman, Prof. Dr. Zainab yousif shnain, member, Asst. Prof. Dr. Shaima Abdel Rahman Ahmed, member, and under the supervision of both Prof. Dr. Khalid Ajmi Sukkar and Asst. Prof. Dr. may ali muslim. As well as the scientific evaluation of the dissertation was done by Prof. Dr. Iyad Fadel Hamza from the University of Baghdad / College of Engineering / Department of Environmental Engineering and Asst. Prof. Dr. Furat Yasser Sharad from Al-Muthanna University / College of Engineering / Department of Chemical Engineering, and linguistically by Asst. Prof. Dr. Alaa Abdel Hadi from the University of Technology.
