The ministerial scientific committee responsible for scientific evaluation of academic reality visits the Department of Chemical Engineering
Within the directives of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research to improve Iraqi academic institutions, a ministerial scientific team charged with evaluating the scientific and academic reality of the Chemical Engineering Department visited on Wednesday, May 15, 2024. During the visit, the committee was briefed on the scientific and academic reality of the department, including rooms and study halls. For preliminary and higher studies, laboratories, health requirements, and other requirements, which are considered the basis of the academic institution. The ministerial committee included Prof. Dr. Jaafar Sadiq Maatouq / Department of Civil Engineering / University of Technology, and Prof. Dr. Fayez Fawzi Mustafa/Al-Khwarizmi College of Engineering/University of Baghdad, and A.M.D. Ali Abdel Khaleq Abdel Hadi/Department of Laser Engineering and Optoelectronics/University of Technology. The committee was received by Professor Dr. Khaled Ajami Sukkar, Head of the Chemical Engineering Department, Professor Dr. Talib Muhammad Nayef, Scientific Assistant, Professor Dr. Zainab Youssef Shaneen, Administrative Assistant of the Department, as well as Professor Dr. Zaydoun Mohsen Shakour, Head of the Oil Refining Engineering Branch, Professor Dr. Asawer Abdel Rasoul, Head of the Chemical Processes Branch, and Messrs. The women are the directors of the scientific and administrative divisions in the department.
A lecturer from the Department of Chemical Engineering obtains a patent for the production of corrosion inhibitors
Professor Dr. Khaled Hamid Rashid from the Department of Chemical Engineering at the University of Technology was part of a joint research team of teachers working in academic institutions. A patent issued by the Central Organization for Standardization and Quality Control for the synthesis of a new corrosion inhibitor 5,3-dimethyl-1,H-pyrosol-1-m(4)(4-Hydroxybenzylidene) (aminophenyl)methanone to prevent corrosion of low carbon iron in the molarity of hydrochloric acid.
It should be noted that the patent was granted based on the provisions of Article (21) of the Patent Law, Industrial Designs, Undisclosed Information, Integrated Circuits, and Plant Varieties No. 65 of 1970, as amended.
A lecturer from the Department of Chemical Engineering participates in scientific research in the third international conference on oil waste management at Koya University
Professor Dr. Thamer Jassim Muhammad from the Department of Chemical Engineering participated in the third international conference on waste management in the oil and gas industry (WMOGI), which was held by Koya University - Iraqi Kurdistan, by presenting the research titled:
The Electrocoagulation Coupled with Adsorption for Wastewater Treatment: Review.
It is worth noting that the conference was organized by Koya University - Department of Petroleum Engineering, in cooperation with the University of Basra and the Missouri University of Science and Technology in America for the period 4/28-30/2024. The conference is concerned with research aimed at managing waste (liquid, gaseous and solid) resulting from and emitted from the oil and gas industry in oil refineries. These pollutants are dangerous to the environment, so effective management of these pollutants can help reduce pollution and environmental impact.
Students of the Chemical Engineering Department take the final exams for the second semester
Today, Saturday, May 11, 2024, it was announced that the final exams for the second semester of the academic year 2023-2024 will begin. The head of the Department of Chemical Engineering at the University of Technology, Professor Dr. Khaled Ajami Sukkar, inspected the progress of the final exams and, during his inspection tour of the exam halls, was briefed on the nature of the measures taken to provide the appropriate atmosphere and the extent of providing all the necessary supplies to conduct the exam process for our dear students, in addition to reviewing the nature of the exam questions and the level of the questions. During his inspection tour, he stressed the need to make every effort to provide the appropriate examination atmosphere for students, wishing them good luck and success in their academic career.
