Prof. Dr. Adel Sharif Hammadi, one of the faculty in the department, who passed away due to the complications of Corona, in the presence of the vice chancellor to the President of the University of Technology for Administrative Affairs Prof. Dr. Hussein Hamid Karim, the Head of the Department of Chemical Engineering Prof. Dr. Jamal Manea Al-Rubaie, and the faculty members, department and university affiliates, some of my deceased loved ones and friends. The memorial condolence council began with a fragrant recitation of the Holy Qur’an, then the department head’s speech delivered by the head of the chemical engineering department, in which he offered his condolences to his deceased family, loved ones and friends. He confirmed that Dr. Adel passed away, leaving a good memory and a beautiful impact on the souls of his teachers, colleagues, students and lovers, expressing his deep sorrow for this great calamity, asking God Almighty to have mercy on him and grant him forgiveness and inspire his family and loved ones patience.
The Chemical Engineering Department is continuing to follow up the implementation of safety and security procedures against fire and other environmental hazards
Written by lumaReferring to the directives of the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research and the directives received from the Presidency of the University, the Chemical Engineering Department has begun to follow up the laboratories in the department and their safety and security procedures, especially the laboratories currently operating, including the Postgraduate Studies Laboratory. The firefighting equipments were inspected and checked in the department and the existing deficiencies were completed. The Chemicals Laboratory of the Chemical Engineering Department was visited by the head of the department, Prof. Dr. Jamal Manea Al-Rubaie, Chairman of the CBRN Committee at the University, Asst. Prof. Dr. Riad Sadiq, as well as the head of the department's CBRN committee, Lect. Dr. Manal afham. The head of the department confirmed the completion of procedures, namely increasing the percentage of ventilation inside the store, the regulation of fire extinguishing cylinders, and many other things. The head of the department also met with the maintenance committee and emphasized that they follow up on the electrical energy sources and cooling devices inside the department to maintain the safety of everyone and other procedures.

During the visit, they were briefed on the mechanisms used, the type of examination questions and the extent of their difficulty, the plans in place during the exam period, and the preventive procedures in terms of social distancing and wearing a mask to limit the spread of the epidemic. The Head of the Chemical Engineering Department, Prof. Dr. Jamal Manea Al-Rubaie, the efforts made by the examination committee and all cadres in serving the students and providing all their needs, wishing everyone permanent excellence and success in the service of our university.
An online seminar for postgraduate students about (developing the properties of the streamlined flow and heat transfer of lubricating oils produced in local oil refineries by adding nanomaterials to them)
Written by lumaWithin the scientific and cultural season of the first semester of the Department of Chemical Engineering, a discussion seminar was held online for postgraduate students (PhD) / research stage on Tuesday, 16/2/2021 by the student Alya Muhammad Awad entitled (Development of the properties of flow and heat transfer for lubricating oils Produced in local oil refineries by adding nanomaterials to them). The student showed that building a unit for the production of additives to nanomaterials from hydrocarbon wastes left by refineries or factories and added to the stock of essential oils produced by local refineries in Iraq and the production of lubricants with specifications comparable to international oils in terms of performance and quality. As well as doing an examination and evaluation of the thermal specifications of the improved oils, and the seminar was attended by the head of the Chemical Engineering Department, Prof. Dr. Jamal Manea Ali Al-Rubaie, and a group of faculty members.

Written by lumaThe Department of Chemical Engineering celebrated the retirees staff by honoring them during a ceremony attended by the head of the Chemical Engineering Department, Prof. Dr. Jamal Manea Ali Al-Rubaie, a number of faculty members and the department's employees. The head of the department said in a speech delivered at the ceremony that "the department decided to extend thanks and gratitude to the colleagues who spent their youth serving the department and the university." He also commended and blessed the first students for the 2020/2021 academic year. All retirees and students were honored with certificates of appreciation and gifts in exchange for their services.

At the end of the meeting, the university president thanked the attendees, wishing them a successful academic year.

Written by lumaHead of the Chemical Engineering Department Jamal Manea Ali Al-Rubaie congratulates the evening study students for their admission to the department and wished them a successful academic year, on Sunday 17/1/2021, where the department head stated in his speech that the department is very happy with the presence of new students and stressed the need for their commitment to the procedures Preventive and hygienic and was also received by the students gentlemen heads of branches and professors of the first stage and the Student Reception Committee to help and guide them about what they need, students at the university. Where it was explained to them that permanence is the blended education system, which was approved by the Ministry of Higher Education, meaning that theoretical lectures are taught electronically and practical lectures in the department in the presence. A tour was made for the students in the department's halls and laboratories, as well as a visit to the training centre and laboratories to introduce them to them, after which the e-mail was distributed to the students for the purpose of preparing for e-learning and communicating with the professors from the first day of their enrolment.

A student from the chemical engineering department participated in an online workshop on stopping spread out of COVID-19.
Written by lumaWithin the university activities, Hussein Hafez Tabak, student of the third year of the Chemical Engineering and Oil Refining Branch, was participated in an online course that given by the Mohammed bin Rashid University of Medicine and Health Sciences MBRU in the United Arab Emirates on how to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 virus and to control it. At the end of the course, the student received a certificate and was awarded the title (MBRU Ambassador for Communication). The chairman of the chemical engineering department, Dr. Jamal Manee Alrubay, congratulated the student for this effort and awareness, and at the same time, encouraged all the students to participate in such scientific and awareness courses.

Written by lumaThe Department of Chemical Engineering held an online workshop entitled Preparing nano-auxiliary agents and using them to interact with hydrogen removal from cyclohexanol and convert it into cyclohexanone by Dr. Allia Khudhair on Wednesday, May 20, 2020.
During her workshop, she clarified that the copper-based catalysts were shown of industrial importance in the interactions of different hydrocarbons, especially in the synthesis of the creating the cyclohexane from the removal of hydrogen from the cyclohexane. The rapid deactivation of copper-based catalysts in operating conditions is an important problem in the industrial process.
