A research team of the University of Technology, Iraq received a patent titled "Production of multilayers nano carbon tubes from diesel fuel"

The research team consists of Dr.Khalid AjmiSukkar  (chairman of the chemical engineering department), Dr. Abdul Hassan Abdul Karam (Mechanical engineering department), and Eng. DhuAlfaqar Nasir (chemical engineering) all of which received a patent from Central Organization for Standardization and Quality Control for their invention. It is important to mention this wasthe first time in whichthe technology for producing the invented material was used. This material can be used for different industrial petroleum applications and also for water treatment.

Recently, faculty members of the chemical engineering department have participated in a workshop entitled to a SWOT analysis for preparing a strategicplan for the Central Organization for Standardization and Quality Control for the years 2020 to 2024. This workshop was held at the Oil Cultural Center on September 23, 2019, and Dr. Adnan A. Abdul Razak, Dr. Zaidoon Muhsan Shakoor, Dr. Farah Talib Jasim, and Dr. Shurooq Talib Remedhan. Our delegation of faculty members for this workshop has contributed to the discussion ofthe development of the work of the Central Organization for Standardization and Quality Control.

Chemical Engineering Department holds a training course on the maintenance of oil pumps

The Department of Chemical Engineering held a course on (Methods of maintenance of oil pumps) in cooperation with the Center for Continuing Education / University of Technology on Sunday, 21/7/2019 and on Dar Al Salam Hall. The lecture was delivered by Asst. Prof. Dr. Riyad Sadiq, where the course dealt with modern scientific concepts in the field of pumping and receiving oil and petroleum products and the most important types of pumps used in the oil sector and the processes of maintenance and evaluate its performance.

Prof. Dr. Riyadh Sadiq al-Mukhtar, head of the Chemical Processing Engineering Branch, participated in the meeting held at the Ministry of Health and Environment on Monday 22-7-2019 on the implementation of the inventory of mercury emissions in Iraq to pave the way for Iraq's accession to the United Nations Minamata Convention to ban the use of mercury. Note that Dr. Riad Sadiq is a member of the ministerial committee representative of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research formed for this purpose

Chemical Engineering Department holds a course on (safety and security in oil installations) in cooperation with the Center for Continuing Education at the University of Technology on Sunday, 4/8/2019 at Dar Al-Salam Hall. More than 17 trainees attended the course. Whereas the lecture was delivered by the head of the Chemical Engineering Department, Asst. Prof. Dr. Khalid Ajami Sukkar, who explained that the aim of the course is to increase awareness in the field of safety in oil installations and sites and prepare a cadre familiar with the experiences and create a plan to preserve the oil sites.

He praised the efforts of the Examination Committee to create the appropriate scientific atmosphere for students and provide all necessary supplies for students as well as faculty members, and thanks to all professors who contributed to give intensive course for students during the summer vacation.

The Department of Chemical Engineering held a training course on (Design and construction of pipelines for oil and gas) in cooperation with the Center for Continuing Education at the University of Technology for the period from 4-8 / 8 / 2019.An engineering staff from the Ministry of Oil participated in the course. Whereas, the lectures were given by Asst. Prof. Dr. Zainab Yousef Shanin, Head of Chemical Engineering and Oil Pollution Branch. The course dealt with the most important engineering designs in the field of transporting oil and gas through the carrier lines

in accordance with the approved international standards.

The Registration Division of the Chemical Engineering Department accomplishes the graduates' documents in degrees through the establishment of an operating room for more than 500 graduates

In order to support the graduates of the Department to obtain employment opportunities on the ministries of the State, especially the scientific initiatives launched by the Ministry of Oil to accommodate the graduates of the Department of Chemical Engineering, the staff of the Registration Division has started over the past few days to complete more than 500 documents in degrees for the graduates of the Department. These documents were completed under the direct supervision of the Head of Department and completed in record time on the same day through the establishment of a daily operations room in the Registration Division. It is worth mentioning that the Department of Chemical Engineering includes three scientific branches, all of which serve the oil sector in the field of oil refineries and industrial sectors supportive.

1- Chemical Processing Engineering Branch.

2- Chemical Engineering and Oil Refining Branch.

3- Chemical Engineering and Oil Pollution Branch
