Laboratories of the Department of Chemical Engineering at the University of Technology welcome the students of the University of Diyala

 The Department of Chemical Engineering / University of Technology welcomed the students of the fourth stage and a number of faculty members in the Department of Chemical Engineering / University of Diyala on Tuesday, 4-9-2019, where the students conducted laboratory experiments in the laboratory of control operations with extensive explanation of the experiments by members of the laboratory staff. It is worth mentioning that the current visit is the third visit of students during the second semester of the current year. In addition, all the facilities and scientific and practical facilities were provided to the students of Diyala University.

Under the auspices of the president of the University of Technology prof. Dr. Amin Daway Thamir and in the presence of the president deputy for scientific affairs, the student Yasser Waleed in the third stage from the Branch of Chemical processing Engineering / Chemical Engineering Department was honored for winning first place in the event held by the English Language Center entitled (Speak-up Technology 4th), where the event was held in Al-Kindi Hall / Department of Electromechanical Engineering. On this occasion, the Department of Chemical Engineering congratulates the student Yasser Waleed and wishes all the students of the department more success and scientific progress. We also thank the English Language Center for this encouraging scientific initiative.

 

 

The head of the chemical engineering department visits the students of the department at the Training and Workshop Center

In light of the directives of the president of the University of Technology on the follow-up of the educational and training process of our students, the Head of the Chemical Engineering Department, Asst. Prof. Dr. Khalid Ajami Sukkar, visited the Training and Workshop Center on Tuesday 9/4/2019 to view the training programs for the students of the department. The head of the chemical engineering department was welcomed by the director of the training and workshop center (Asst. Prof. Dr. Haidar Abd Dahd). The visit was attended by Lect. Dr. Walaa Abdel Hadi, administrative deputy to the head of Chemical Engineering Department and Lect. Fadel Abbas Hammadi, supervisor of the students. The director of the center was praised the scientific supervisor of the students in our department (Lect. Fadel Abbas Hammadi) and his role in follow-up the students of the first stage through the registration of their absence and the notifications addressed to the students as well as their commitment to the weekly attendance. The importance of the Training and workshop Center in the University of Technology was discussed for its outstanding role in the training of the students of the University of Technology and from all the disciplines of the scientific and engineering departments where practical training is one of the most important elements in the university education system, especially in the field of engineering and technical. It aims to provide and mix scientific and practical experience that qualifies the graduates of our university to achieve professional success in making the future engineer so that they have a large and growing role in economic development in our dear Iraq. At the end of the visit, the head of the chemical engineering department commended the efforts exerted by the director of the training center and the division managers through their interest in the students, in addition to providing all the necessary supplies for them. 

 

 

Workshop in the Department of Chemical Engineering to implement the course system for the next academic year

              In preparation for the implementation of the course system for the next academic year and in light of the directives of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and the University of Technology, a workshop was held in the Department of Chemical Engineering at Dar Al-Salaam Hall on Wednesday 13/3/2019. The workshop was attended by the Head of the Department Assist. Prof. Dr. Khalid Ajami Sukkar, scientific and administrative deputies of the head of the department and the heads of scientific branches in the department as well as a group of faculty members in the department. The workshop was chaired by Assist. Prof. Dr. Adnan Abdul-Jabbar Abdul Razzaq / Scientific deputy and the coordinator Assist. Lect. Khalid Mansour Sadiq / Director of the Registration Division, in which the mechanisms of applying the course system and the percentage of completion of the department to the requirements for implementing the system were clarified.

Fire fighting training course

              Within the activities of the Department of Chemical Engineering for the second semester of the academic year 2018/2019, a training course was held by Engineer Osama Hussain Qamar and Eng. Hussein Ghaleb entitled (Causes of Fire and how to treat it and the means used) on Ibn Rushd Hall on Wednesday 13/3/2019. The training course was attended by the Head of the Department Assist. Prof. Dr. Khalid Ajami Sukkar, scientific and administrative deputies of the head of the department and the heads of scientific branches in the department as well as a group of faculty members in the department. In his lecture, Engineer Osama Hussain Qamar presented some important things about the use of modern warning system in the design and implementation of modern buildings. Whilst, Eng. Hussein Ghalib explained the causes and types of fires, as well as the kinds of extinguishers used in dealing with fire conditions.

 

Publish a scientific research by the two faculty members: Assist. Prof. Dr. Adnan Abdul - Jabbar and Lect. Dr. Walaa Abdelhadi in the Arab Journal of Science and Engineering

      Two faculty members, Assist. Prof. Dr. Adnan Abdul - Jabbar and Lect. Dr. Walaa Abdelhadi, from the Chemical Engineering Department published a research entitled "Modification of Zeolite by Magnetic Nanoparticles for Organic Dye Removal" In the Arab Journal of Science and Engineering with impact factor of 1.092.

University of Technology in cooperation with the Directorate of Civil Defense and the University Committee for the Control of Chemical and Biological Hazard (CBRN) held a celebration (Safety Week at the University of Technology)

              Under the auspices of the President of the University of Technology Prof. Dr. Amin Daway Thamir, the University of Technology in cooperation with the Directorate of Civil Defense and the University Committee for the Control of Chemical and Biological Hazardous Substances (CBRN: Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear) held a celebration and field demonstration entitled "Safety Week at the University of Technology" on the gardens of the Department of Chemical Engineering on Monday, 11/3/2019 in the presence of the President of the University of Technology Prof. Dr. Amin Daway Thamir and Governor of Baghdad Eng. Falah Al-Jazairi as well as the director of civil defense Colonel Kazem Salman, in addition to the University President Deputy for Administrative Affairs Prof. Dr. Sami Abu Al-Nun Ajeel, University President Deputy for Scientific and Cultural Affairs Prof. Dr. Alaa Abdul Hussein and the head of the Chemical Engineering Department Assist. Prof. Dr. Khalid Ajami Sukkar with a number of department heads, faculty members, department and university staff and a selection of civil defense officers. The President of the University explained in his speech the need to use the most important methods and modern techniques to control chemical and biological materials and to preserve the safety of faculty members and students when dealing with these hazardous materials. The ceremony included a field review by a group of faculty members and students in cooperation with the Directorate of Civil Defense. At the end of the celebration, the certificates were awarded by the Governor of Baghdad and the President of the University of Technology to the members of the Preparatory Committee and everyone who participated in the celebration.

 

 

The Department of Chemical Engineering holds a training program on Chemical Inventory Management System (CIMS) in Baghdad University

           In the light of the joint scientific cooperation between the University of Technology and the University of Baghdad and under the invitation of the College of Science for Women, the engineer (Avelin Ayoub Dawood) held a training course on (CIMS) for the period 27-28 / 2/2019 for training on the electronic input system, which related to storage of chemicals and best practices for chemical storage.         The Department of Chemical Engineering receives a certificate from the International Institute of Chemical Engineering to develop a student chapter (AIChE) at the University of Technology for the first time at the level of Iraqi universities. It is worth noting that this scientific chapter is intended to enhance scientific communication with the universities and institutes of the world and to develop the scientific capabilities of scientific students

Faculty members from the Department of Chemical Engineering participate in a training program on advanced machines in the field of nanotechnology at the University of Kashan

                In light of the directives of the university to develop the scientific capabilities of faculty members and to obtain an advanced equipment training, the faculty members from the Department of Chemical Engineering / University of Technology: Lect. Dr. Alaa Mishgal Ali, Lect. Fadel Hashem Faraj and Assist. Lect. Khaled Mansour Sadek were participated in the workshop under the title (description, identification and basic analysis of nanomaterials) at the University of Kashan / Islamic Republic of Iran for the period 8-12 / 2/2019. Participants were trained on nanometer instruments (XRD, SEM & BET). The participants received certificates as well as a letter of thanks from the host University for their active participation.
