Participation of faculty members from the Department of Chemical Engineering / University of Technology at an international scientific symposium of the College of Pharmacy, Al Kitab University on the occasion of the National Day of Water

            Participation of faculty members from the Department of Chemical Engineering / University of Technology at an international scientific symposium of the College of Pharmacy, Al Kitab University on the occasion of the National Day of Water on Saturday, March 23, 2019. They are each of Prof. Dr. Qusay Fadel Abdel Hamid, Assist. Prof. Dr. Salah Salman and Assist. Prof. Dr. Khaled Turki Rashed. The symposium dealt with the role of modern science and technology in raising awareness about the water challenges for sustainable development and saline water desalination using membrane technology, as well as treatment of waste water using industrial and biologic membranes. Where they received the shield of the university and also certificates of appreciation for their active participation in the symposium by means of the President of Al Kitab University, Prof. Dr. Iyad Ghani Ismail.

The Summer Training Unit in the Department of Chemical Engineering organized a scientific visit for students of the third class of the Chemical Engineering and Oil Refining engineering Branch

             Based on the directives of the Presidency of Chemical Engineering in activating the scientific visits of the students of the Department during the current academic year 2018/2019, the Summer Training Unit in the Department of Chemical Engineering organized a scientific visit to the students of the third class of the branch of chemical engineering and oil refining engineering on Tuesday 19/3/2019 to the headquarters of the General Company for Heavy Engineering Equipment located in the Duora area under the supervision of the faculty members, namely: Assist. Prof. Dr. Khaled Hamed, Lect. Dr. Wallaa Al-Najjar, Lect. Dr. Abbas Jawad, Lect. Dr. Haidar Abd Ali and Chief chemist Wasun Sami. At the end of the visit, all faculty members and students expressed their joy at the positive results of the scientific activity carried out by the Summer Training Unit. They also extended their thanks and appreciation to the Head of the Department for providing them with an opportunity to learn about the latest technological developments in the area of jurisdiction directly.    

Department of Chemical Engineering and in collaboration with the Center for Continuing Education / University of Technology holds a course entitled (Hysis Program) by members of the faculty in the Department of Chemical Engineering

           Starting from the principle of cooperation and deepening the academic work between the Department of Chemical Engineering and the Center for Continuing Education / University of Technology, a course entitled "Hysis Program" was organized by members of the faculty in the Department of Chemical Engineering, namely: Assist. Prof. Dr. Zainab Yousif, Lect. Bashar Jawad and Lect. Iyad Dari for the period 17-20 / 3/2019 on the Center for Continuing Education, where a group of employees of government institutions and departments was present.

 

A scientific visit to the students of the Department of Chemical Engineering to Baghdad International Fair

           In accordance with the directives of the Presidency of the University of Technology in activating the scientific visits of the students of the Department in order to activate awareness and education in the field of rationalization and energy sustainability, the Summer Training Unit organized a practical scientific visit on Tuesday 26/3/2019 to the headquarters of the Baghdad Center for Renewable Energy and Sustainability in Baghdad International Fair in Al-Mansour area for students of the third class / evening study of both branches, Oil & Gas Refining engineering and Chemical Processing engineering, under the supervision of the faculty members and engineers, namely: Assist. Prof. Dr. Khaled Hamed, Assist. Prof. Dr. Bushra Abdullah, Lect. Lama Hussein and Senior chief Eng. Osama Hussein. On the sidelines of the visit, the Director of the Center at the Baghdad Center for Renewable Energy and Sustainability, Mr. Mohammed Shaker, welcomed the teachers and the students who were present in the center's hall where the director of the center toured the center's sections with the delegation. The delegation was briefed on the sections of the center and the purpose of its establishing. As well as the existing systems in the center, which rely entirely on renewable energy, the most prominent of which is a solar powered air conditioner and models and applications through the presentation of comprehensive video on the city of sustainable, the main objective of the scientific visit was to link the theoretical study with the practical application and to clarify some practical applications of chemical engineering in the field of environmental pollution treatments through solid waste recycling processes, applications of green chemistry, bio-fuel manufacturing, diesel fuel from organic waste, as well as an explanation of solar cells.

Scientific visit for the students of the Department of Chemical Engineering - University of Technology to the headquarters of the Midland Refineries Company

          In accordance with the directives of the Presidency of the University of Technology in activating the scientific and applied visits to the students, the Summer Training Unit organized a scientific visit to the students of the third class / second meal of the branch of Chemical Processing engineering on Monday, 18/3/2019 to the headquarters of the Midland Refineries Company at the headquarters in the Duora area under the supervision of the faculty members, namely: Assist. Prof. Dr. Khaled Hamed, Assist. Prof. Dr. Bashir Yousif, Lect. Dr. Leith Salem, Assist. Lect. Mariem Yousif and Assist. Lect. Iman Hashim. One of the most important objectives of the scientific visit is to link theoretical study with practical application and to clarify some practical applications of chemical engineering in the field of petroleum industries.

 

Conducting the comprehensive oral exam for doctoral students in the Department of Chemical Engineering

Oral exam for doctoral students in the Department of Chemical Engineering was held on Thursday 31/1/2019 by the Chairman and members of the committee charged with conducting the comprehensive examination in the department. The head of the department Asst. Prof. Dr. Khalid Ajami Sukkar was briefed on the progress of the examination process for students. It is worth mentioning that the study plan for the doctoral study in the department has allocated three seats annually to the general acceptance to be submitted according to the regulations adopted by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and the University of Technology.

H.D. Student Haidar Ahmed Hadi was awarded a H.D. Degree in Chem. Eng. from the Department of Chemical Engineering.

Degree after the discuss of his project under the title: "Improvement Demulsification of Iraqi Crude oil With Water Removal Demulsifiers in Oilfields", which was supervised by Prof. Dr. Thamer Jassim Mohammed, on Sunday 3-2-2019 inside Al-Khwarizmi Hall in Chemical Engineering Department-University of Technology. The discussion committee was comprised of Asst. Prof. Dr. Talib Mohammad Nayef and Lect. Dr. Shurooq Talib. 

A delegation from the Department of Chemical Engineering participated in the second meeting of the committee of deans of engineering faculties of Iraqi universities

Prof. Dr. Khalid Ajami Sukkar and Prof. Dr. Thamer Jassim Mohammed participated in the second meeting of the Committee of Deans of Engineering Colleges in Iraqi universities, which was held in Al-Mustaqbal University College in Babylon province on Saturday, 2/2/2019. The meeting dealt with several paragraphs that promote the development of the academic engineering sector.

Dr. Wallaa Abdul Hadi / Administrative deputy of the head of department and Lect. Dr. Alaa Mashaal, were participated in the ceremony of honoring the top students on Iraqi universities and colleges within the 2019 Young Program under the auspices of the Al-Hadara Al-Abbasiyah. Where the first student (Ali Hassan Khalbas) from the Department of Chemical Engineering / University of Technology was honored by the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research; Prof. Dr. Qusay al-Suhail. This celebration is one of the programs that aim at encouraging Iraqi youth to excel in order to contribute to building the beloved Iraq.
